Nintendo has officially announced the lineup of Nintendo Entertainment System games coming to the Switch for April 2019. The three new additions include Punch Out!!, Star Soldier, and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels.
In the boxing game Punch Out!!, you play as Little Mac. Gameplay consists of challenging a variety of opponents as you work your way up in the World Video Boxing Association. Unlike the original game for the NES, players won’t be able to challenge the famous boxer Mike Tyson. Due to licensing restrictions, Mr. Dream was replaced as the final boss in the game.
Star Soldier is a vertical shoot em’ up game set in outer space. Players will have the opportunity to control a space fighter to take on Starbrain, an evil giant computer with plans to take control of the galactic empire.
Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels was released in Japan as Super Mario Bros. 2. This version of Super Mario Bros. 2 is quite different than the numbered sequel that was released for the North American audience. The Lost Levels resemble the gameplay style of the original Super Mario Bros., while at the same time creating a more challenging experience for the players. New features are added such as poisonous mushrooms, wind gusts and level warps.
All three games will be available to play on April 10, 2019. The Nintendo Entertainment System for Nintendo Switch is available for all Nintendo Online subscribers and includes a compilation of fan favorite NES titles such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Donkey Kong. Nintendo appears to be staying committed to having a consistent release schedule for new games added to the service.
