The Last of Us TV Series Has Its Joel and Ellie

The castings are very promising

According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline earlier today, HBO’s TV adaptation of The Last of Us has found its Joel and Ellie.

Pedro Pascal, who’s known for his roles in Game of Thrones and The Mandalorian, will play Joel. Meanwhile, Bella Ramsey of Game of Thrones fame will play Ellie. The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog confirmed the castings on Twitter.

Although there were rumors of True Detective star Mahershala Ali taking on the role of Joel, there wasn’t a deal hammered out between him and HBO.

The castings of Joel and Ellie add to an already-promising feeling about HBO’s The Last of Us series. Chernobyl creator and writer Craig Mazin will co-write the series alongside Neil Druckmann, who co-directed and wrote the two The Last of Us video games. Series composer Gustavo Santaolalla will also score HBO’s The Last of Us.
