One of the more surprising announcements made during Nintendo’s February Direct was a sequel to the side-scrolling creation game featuring everyone’s favorite Italian plumber. And now we have a release date. The Nintendo of America official Twitter announced that Super Mario Maker 2 will be hitting shelves on June 28. Nintendo previously announced during their Direct that the title would be arriving sometime this June.
Super Mario Maker 2, like its Wii U and then ported to the 3DS predecessor, allows players to create and share their own custom Mario levels. The Super Mario 3D World style joins the Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros. U styles already present from the original game.
The Super Mario 3D World style is not the only new change coming to the Switch title. A bevy of changes and improvements will be making their way from creating angled surfaces and slopes to auto scroll scrolling customization. Watch the announcement trailer above to see all the new additions and changes for yourself.
