Spyro Reigniting Onto the PS4 and Xbox One

Activision confirms numerous leaks that a Spyro trilogy is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro and the Xbox One family of consoles on September 21st, 2018, for an MSRP of $39.99.

The remastered trilogy was announced by Activision with a trailer (shown below) April 5, 2018, and is titled Spyro Reignited Trilogy. The trilogy will consist of the first three games that released on the PlayStation Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage (also known as Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer in Europe and Australia), and Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

The games have been “completely remastered” featuring redone graphics, lighting, sound, and animations with “scaled-up HD graphics.” The Spyro games have over 100 levels that Activision has “mapped faithfully from the originals, only now re-imagined with modern mechanics to give fans an excellent gaming experience.

As a special treat for Spyro’s 20 year anniversary, all of the players that own Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy for PlayStation 4 in North America can enter the iconic code (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, square) at the Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped title screen to view the new trailer for Spyro Reginited Trilogy.

Tom Kenny, the voice actor from Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon, is returning to the role of Spyro for all three remastered games, along with many other actors returning to voice their old characters. Along with returning voice actors the music of Stewart Copeland’s original soundtrack is being reimagined for modern consoles.

The Chief Creative Officer, Paul Yan, at Toys For Bob said “We’re deeply passionate about staying true to the legacy of the original three Spyro games with the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. We’ve poured a lot of love into making the personalities and worlds feel just like fans remember them, while also keeping the game collection surprisingly fresh with lush, high definition detail. We’re bringing back the Spyro we all fell in love with 20 years ago.”

IGN put out a video where they delved a deeper into some more Spyro Reignited Trilogy info with a couple of the developers working on the remaster.
