The web slinger himself is making his way into the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers game after a supposed leak.
A few days ago, a statement within the description for the upcoming action title was spotted on Base. The statement advertised that Spider-Man would be available exclusively on PlayStation 4. Earlier today, the retailer then stated this to be false information. However, PlayStation themselves have now revealed over on the PlayStation Blog that this is in fact true.
That means Spider-Man will be coming to the base PS4 and PS5 versions of the game sometime in early 2021. The details are currently limited on his abilities, but the newest blog post reveals the source of his inspiration to be his commuter series of comics. This means Spider-Man will adapt in order to face global threats, but don’t worry, the web swinging isn’t going anywhere.
Just like all other heroes announced for the game already, Spider-Man will have ability and item customisation, along with cosmetic suits. We don’t know whether he will also come with his own unique hero mission. That said, every hero we’ve seen so far, included the recently-revealed Hawkeye, have their own hero missions.
To celebrate his arrival, an in game event will take place sometime next year. The event will include a series of unique challenges take on. For those hoping that this version of the wall crawler will be the same as that in Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man, it seems unlikely. Jeff Adams mentions in the blog post that this will be their own take on the iconic hero.
Marvel’s Spider-Man will launch September 4 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC. It will also launch on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X sometime after. The game’s beta period will start this week for PlayStation 4 owners.
