ROCCAT Sense AIMO Review

Can You Revolutionize Something So Simple?

The ROCCAT Sense AIMO is the second accessory reviewed so far that uses the AIMO lighting system. Can that alone carry the asking price of $40 US or is there more to this piece of cloth than meets the eye? It comes down to what you need versus what you expect. I’ll tell you, the mousepad as a purchase as a singular accessory may not be worth it for most. As part of an overall setup, though? That’s a different story.

A Bunch of Specs for a Mousepad

Sense AIMO Pad

So, how does a mousepad have this much going on in its spec sheet. Why do you need ROCCAT’s Swarm Software for it? This is 2020, everything is strange. But, digging in, you start to see the reasons. A great deal of thought went into the design for this little glowing piece of cloth.

First, you have the AIMO Illumination that I mentioned earlier. The idea is that all devices that are AIMO enabled share a lighting scheme and it moves from one device to the next. As lighting moves across the Vulcan 122 AIMO it then naturally flows over to the mousepad which shares the same lighting flow and colors. It creates an extremely pleasing aesthetic that will make your gaming setup look much more high tech.

How Does it Feel

Sense AIMO Rubber

So, this is the big point on any mousepad. The ROCCAT Sense Aimo has a nice cloth top with a rubberized bottom that keeps it from sliding around. The size is just right and gives you plenty of room to move a mouse around without feeling like you are pressed for space. You will need a USB port for the RGB lighting which means another wire, but it doesn’t interfere with the feel of the pad at all.

I’ve been using a metal mouse pad for ages and it was great, but now that I’m back on the soft inviting texture of cloth it really makes a significantly difference in movement and comfort. At the asking price it is well worth the purchase if you are going down the ROCCAT path. If not, it is really hard to say since it will just be a glowing mousepad and you may find others for a little cheaper. This one feels like it is priced right and is an easy recommendation with the previously mentioned caveats.

There isn’t a lot to say about a mousepad, but the ROCCAT Sense AIMO does some really cool stuff with its technology. The cloth is comfortable and it will stay where you place it. It doesn’t take up too much space and it looks sharp as part of a larger layout. You can’t go wrong with this purchase but you get so much more if it is part of the AIMO line of ROCCAT accessories.
