Listen to this Article

After months of silence, Sony finally announced today how much the PlayStation 5 will sell for and when the console will launch.

The PlayStation 5 will carry a $499 price tag, while the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition will cost $399. Keep in mind the two consoles are virtually identical, save for the lack of a disc drive on the latter console.

As for the release date, Sony announced the PlayStation 5 will launch November 12 in North America, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. The console will then have a worldwide launch one week later on November 19.

The good news is pre-orders will open tomorrow at select retailers, according to industry journalist Geoff Keighley on Twitter. Some retailers might even make some inventory available sometime today.
