Original article, May 29, 2020 (12:39pm EST): On the PlayStation Blog today, Sony announced it’ll host a PlayStation 5 games showcase June 4. This will be the first time Sony will show off some games headed to the upcoming console.
According to Jim Ryan, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s president and CEO, the digital showcase will run for a little over an hour. Ryan also said more is on the way, since the upcoming showcase is “part of our series of PS5 updates” and that Sony “still have much to share with you.” One of these updates could be the PS5 hardware, since we still don’t know what the console looks like.
In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Ryan said Sony’s first-party games remain on schedule despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Whether we’ll see first-party titles during next week’s digital showcase is a different question, but it should be an interesting summer. Microsoft is planning its own digital showcase for first-party titles headed to the Xbox Series X.
Sony’s digital showcase will go live June 4 at 1:00pm PT.
