Persona 5 Royal: Five Things You Might Not Know

Thinking about Picking Up Persona 5 Royal? Here Are Some Things That You Should Probably Know Copy

You may be thinking to yourself, ‘what is Persona 5 Royal and why should I play it?’ The answer is a bunch of different things. Persona 5 Royal is essentially a director’s cut of sorts for Persona 5. The same thing happened to both Persona 3 and 4 with the release of Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 Golden. So today, I will be spouting nonsense and you’re going to listen. Here is a bunch of information about the upcoming Persona 5 Royal.

Additional School Term

Like Persona 5 wasn’t long enough already. P5R is going to extend the school portion of the game to include an extra term of education. This inevitably means that Morgana will be telling you to go to sleep every five seconds again. If the previous games have any indication of what this means, we’ll see a lot more of the Phantom Thieves going on trips together. The skiing trip from Persona 4 Golden was a personal favorite of mine. Make the Cat Ski for me ALTUS, then I can see him fail to grasp the concept of winter sports.

New Character and Confidants

This time around we will be getting a brand-new party member, Kasumi Yoshizawa. We’ll probably be seeing a Persona awakening for her and of course a Confidant to level up. Knowing the Persona fanbase, the battle for who is the best girl will rage on yet again. Thank you ATLUS, do you realize what you’ve done? There is also a new Confidant in the form of Takuto Maruki, the School Counsellor. It will be interesting to see how he is incorporated in the story of the Phantom Thieves.

Palace Reworks

So the dungeons in Persona 5 Royal are going to be slightly different. For those P5 veterans, it may give you more than enough reason to return to the JRPG. Joker is now armed with a grappling hook, so that will make traversal a bit more engaging. Some of the dungeons may have a slight alteration in their layouts too, so forget everything you know. It is also highly likely that the bosses will be changed mechanically to make them distinct from the original title.

More Jazzy Tunes

Persona 5 Royal comes with a plethora of new musical arrangements from Lyn Izunmi and composer Shoji Meguro. We’ve already seen the opening animation and it is beautiful to say the least. The Phantom Thieves will not only steal hearts they’ll also be infiltrating your ear drums with catchy tunes.

Activities and New Locations

Royal includes a brand new area to explore in addition to a bunch of activities for you to partake in. Fancy a game of pool or darts? You can absolutely do that now. Kichijoi is also an area that you can now explore. The player will be able to interact with their friends in new hangout spots and can shop around the new locale.

Persona 5 Royal is shaping up to be the definitive way to experience the critically acclaimed JRPG. If your a fan of the series there’s more than enough reason to return. New players you better listen up. You owe it to yourself to play Persona 5 Royal!

Persona 5 Royal will be released on March 31st 2019 in Standard and Collector’s Editions. You can pre-order the standard here and the collector’s here.
