Seemingly, every month that has come and gone thus far in 2019 has brought with it some form of new Pokémon related news. And it only took a manner of hours into the year’s fifth month to keep the trend afloat.
The “Pokémon Pass” app allows trainers to obtain exclusive Pokémon digital rewards when visiting participating retailers. When visiting a participating store and through your phone’s camera, one can scan a quick response (QR) codes to unlock a multitude of gifts. Of these gifts, there is one that “shines” above the rest.
Beginning on May 11, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! trainers can add a shiny variation of the title’s box mascots Pikachu and Eevee to their games. By visiting select US retailer Target stores, Let’s Go, Pikachu! players can receive a shiny Eevee, while those playing Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! can get a shiny Pikachu. The promotion will run until June 23, 2019.
Pokémon Pass is free to download and available for Android devices and the iPhone. One will need a Pokémon Trainer Club account, which is free and can be done on Pokemon.com. To use the app, you’ll need to enable location services and grant permission for the app to use your phone’s camera as that is how you will be able to get your digital rewards. The features of Pokémon Pass are currently available only in the United States.
Also on May 11, which happens to be the release date of the “Detective Pikachu”, at those same Target retailers there will be a QR code for a Psyduck sticker as he appears in the movie. For more “Detective Pikachu” stickers, simply download the app now.
