Konami Reveals Three Anniversary Collections

Retro gaming fans rejoice! Konami has just announced that they will be releasing collections from their classic franchises Castlevania and Contra, as well as a collection of beloved arcade titles within the coming months.

The website reads: “In celebration with the 50th anniversary since KONAMI was founded, this Anniversary Collection series highlights many of the iconic arcade games and classic console titles that have been loved by fans throughout the years, and are made available on many of the latest platforms. From the shooters to action, these collections are packed with beloved titles that are simple to play and yet addicting to the core”.  

Each collection will be released digitally on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Steam and Nintendo Switch, and will include eight titles as well as a bonus eBook.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Arcade Classics collection releases on April 18th for $19.99, and features these eight titles:

  • Haunted Castle
  • Typhoon (A-Jax)
  • Nemesis (Gradius)
  • Vulcan Venture (Gradius III)
  • Life Force (Salamander)
  • Thunder Cross
  • Scramble
  • TwinBee

The bonus eBook is stated to include various interviews, behind-the-scenes insights, and design documents that have never been seen by the public before.

The Castlevania Collection is currently slated for an early summer release, with only four of the eight titles being currently announced. The collection includes:

  • Castlevania
  • Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
  • Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse
  • Super Castlevania IV

The Castlevania Collection’s bonus eBook includes details from the developers, artists and more.

Lastly, the Contra Collection will also be releasing in the summer, and there are also only four out of the eight total titles currently announced. These titles are:

  • Contra
  • Super Contra
  • Super C
  • Contra III: The Alien Wars

The contents of the Contra Collection’s bonus eBook are currently unspecified.
