In a now-deleted post on Xbox Wire, Microsoft announced Forza Horizon 4 will launch March 9 on Steam. It will be the first Forza game to launch on Steam.
The good news is the Steam version won’t be wanting for features. In addition to cross-play with other versions, it will also receive the same updates. That means Forza Horizon 4 on Steam will get the Hot Wheels Legends car pack sometime in the near future.
Also, Leaderboards and Clubs will carry over from Xbox to Steam.
There is one thing to keep in mind, however. The Steam version of Forza Horizon 4 will not support cross-progression. That means you can’t start the game on your Xbox One and use the same save data on Steam, and vice-versa.
Whether this could prompt Microsoft to release more Forza titles on Steam remains anyone’s guess. 2017’s Forza Motorsport 7 isn’t on Steam, and the upcoming Forza Motorsport hasn’t been announced for the storefront. Perhaps Microsoft wants to wait and see how Forza Horizon 4 performs before deciding.
